Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Supplements Hydra Care Cat Supplement

Our cat is 18 1/2 years old. She has had her kidney numbers slowly rising for several years. Last year after some stress her health took a nose dive. She wouldn’t eat and wasn’t drinking. We resorted to syringe feeding her and that started to help. As a last ditch effort we started syringing in some hydracare as well. What a difference!! She started perking up. She began eating small amounts on her own and would drink 2 packets of the hydracare on her own each day. Weeks later the vet was shocked how well she was doing. After about 5 months she wasn’t as interested in the hydracare but vet said she was doing so well that we should try to keep it up. We changed strategies and at each meal we let her eat most of the food and mix part of the remaining food with some of the hydracare. She usually will finish it. By doing it this way we are able to still get most of 2 packets in her every day. Vet is amazed at how well she is doing even a little more than a year after her bad spell last year.

I love this product. I haven't been able to find anything similar. I would give 5 stars but I do have 2 issues. I guess it really tastes good because my cat sucked down a whole packet instantly & threw up. I didn't expect my picky, ill boy to do that. So be aware & give it slowly. My other issue is that the product contains whey protein isolate, dairy product, and Frankie can't tolerate any trace of dairy. I've sent a request to Purina for a dairy free version. My boy has irritable bowel & needs help with rehydration when he's too ill to eat solid food. Too bad for me because it's a great product!

Purina Hydra Care Supplement for Cat Hydration is a good alternative to help our cats maintain good hydration, especially when they are not water lovers. Great to alternate with liquid treats. The price is a bit high in relation to the quantity of product but it is of quality. I received this product at a discount price in exchange for my honest review.

I hope I don't jinx it, but my cat easily consumes the vet-recommended 1 pouch per day to help with her chronic kidney disease. Maybe if it's not getting eaten, try to mix it with dry food, or wet food, or some treats...

My cat seemed really lethargic and wasn't drinking from her bowl. So, I used Hydra Care and she drinks a pouch every day. She seems to feel a lot better and have more energy.

I had no clue my cat wasn't getting enough water! When I gave her Hydra Care, she drank it right up! Now, she has so much more energy :)
