Why so many issues with cat diets?
Our cat was on the c/d urinary formula for years only to begin throwing up and losing weight. Now the z/d is recommended. I want to know WHY so many cats are havoc allergic reactions to canned and dry vet prescribed foods? I’m from South Africa and pets there do not need nearly as many prescription diets as they do here. Cats are over vaccinated, over treated and I suspect it’s creating a cascade of issues downstream. Our cat actually likes the z/d for now. It’s got awful consistency though and makes a huge mess.

After 8mo of changing foods, lots of meds & tests, my cat's GI tract is almost totally healed. She is so much more playful, eats better & her fur is softer. Thanks so much.

Science Diet y/d is a GODSEND.
Our 8-year-old female Siamese mix developed hyperthyroidism last summer and medications were not able to be given without one person holding her and the other administering it. We were fast-losing her trust and love. Our vet then prescribed Science Diet y/d Chicken Dry Food. She quickly adapted to the y/d food and by day two was eating it voraciously and drinking water at a greater rate as well. Her cat box habits normalized and all three of us couldn't be happier!

My cats like the kibble
May cat with IBD enjoys the kibble but I can’t get her to eat the canned food (or any of my other cats) and had to go with a different brand for that. The wet food is a strange texture that I don’t think they liked as they are not usually very picky.

Irresistible, apparently!
I've been feeding my cats prescription diets for a while due to health issues, but with a young cat who has a chicken allergy, my vet felt that z/d would allow me to feed all of my cats the same food instead of having to juggle and wrangle every meal time. And my cats LOVE it, especially the dry food. My youngest cat tore into the side of the bag to get extra food, and has learned how to open the storage container I transferred it to. Her older cat roommates are big fans of this, and will egg her on and help eat the spoils. I'm a fan, and so are they. Thank you!

Get a happier cat
My cat was diagnosed as hyperthyroid. Before his diagnosis, he was losing weight and begging for food. Little did we know he was really starving. After he started on The Hill's y/d he was calm and slept well and stopped losing weight. The food saved our cat and gave us a happier cat.

Brewers Rice Nonsense
When I checked the top 5 ingredients of ZD Hills, I was horrified. Brewers Rice?!! 1# ingredient? Humans can't eat this, I'm not feeding it to my cat. Cats don't require or digest carbohydrates due to lack of amylase in their saliva. I'm not making my kitty sicker with secondary issues because of this inferior cat food. UGH where is the science?!!!

A lifesaver if I can get him to eat
This food works, but my cat doesn’t like the taste. He is a large cat, at one time 10+ pounds, but lost weight due to hyperthyroidism. We tried the pills, but he developed an intolerance for them. For three years I gave the canned food, mixed with chicken stock that I made from chicken legs that had been untreated. This was the only way he would eat the food, and he continued to lose weight without it. It worked! He gained about half a pound and his blood work was back to normal. Just this year however, he began losing weight and again his thyroid was over-producing. His numbers weren’t anywhere near what they were when first diagnosed, but still they indicated hyperthyroidism. Without this diet Lincoln probably wouldn’t be doing as well as he is. He was never a finicky eater, but he really doesn’t like this food.
