So disappointed
So disappointed in this new formula. My dog had been eating ZD for 10 years with great results. As many other reviewers state there was no notice of a formula change. When the new food arrived we had to coax our dog to eat it. He clearly did not like it. And it’s not because he’s a “creature of habit” as suggested. Bought a bag of Royal Canin Ultramino from my vet today. He loved it instantly. We’ll be transitioning to that immediately. It does not contain ground pecan shells. I have to believe Hills switched to that ingredient to save cost. I would have paid more to stay with the old formula, but now you’ve lost me as a customer.

Horrible Change in formula huge mistake
I was given this new formula w/o warning or any kind of notice. I was almost out of food so transitioning was 3 days not 7. My dog turned 9 today & his poop is black, hes constipated, lethargic, crying & he loved the original canned & dry, so now hes not eating, is scratching again (dont know the allergen) his skin & coat were perfect for the 1st time in yrs ON ORIGINAL RECIPE. We as consumers WHO R MAKING YOU VERY WEALTHY have a right to know when formulas are changed so WE can make an informed choice. Our vet recommended he switch to Royal Canin. I dont want soy or food made in "other countries". I want a CHOICE in what WE feed OUR dog! Its NOT YOUR DOG! Why cant u make both recipes so we can feed what we like & what works best for OUR DOG! It's unfair to the consumer but more importantly its unfair to the innocent animal that depends on us for their nutrition. Do the right thing HILLS, give us the choice! Our dog, our choice!

New formulation is horrible
The formula has changed and now includes Pecan shells which are toxic to dogs. How could you do this? I don't care what your "scientists " say, it is toxic in more than one way. Look it up.

Hills z/d formulation change and deception!
My dog has been on z/d formula for years. We received our autoship from Chewy and noticed the food was significantly darker. We are going on day four of our dog refusing to eat this food. I came here to see if the formula changed, and sure enough it appears it has. Looking at Hill's responses to reviewers with the same concerns, how can you recommend transitioning from the old to the new formula over a seven day period if you've given no notification on the packaging or elsewhere to the consumer that the formula has changed? This is deceptive at best and detrimental to our dogs at worst. You've lost a loyal customer.

Disappointed in new formula
VERY disappointed Hills would change a food that worked for so many of our pets. My dog will tolerate it but no longer loves his Hills Z/D. hy change something that worked so well? So very disappointed.

So Disappointed
This change in the original formula means my lovebug of a dog will probably die. That may sound overly dramatic, but this is the only food on the market that her system has tolerated with her animal protein allergies, the new formula does not work for her due to the addition of fish oil, and now I am left with some really impossible choices. I would never recommend a Hills product to anyone I care about.

NEW FORMULA warning
Incredibly upset that Hill’s has suddenly changed the formula of a *prescription* dog food without notifying customers or making it very obvious that a change has occurred. Furthermore, this new formula contain CHICKEN. One of the most common food allergies for dogs. The entire point of the original prescription was that the hydrolyzed protein was safe for dogs with allergies, IBD, and other GI conditions. Our vet prescribed this food to my dog because he has severe IBD and a condition called EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency). Any minor change to his diet can have dangerous consequences. And now, I’m left scrambling trying to find him a new food, without enough time to do a slow multi week long transition for him. Really disappointed in Hill’s. Clearly don’t care for their customer’s dogs the way they say they do.

Formula change spells doom for my dog with allergies
We've been feeding our Shih Tzu Hills Z/D hydrolyzed protein for years because he has SEVERE allergies. It was THE only food we could find that had no allergens in it. Now the formula has changed and added fish oil and flaxseed, and he is highly allergic to both. And I've seen the comments from Hill's about having the right to change formulas (and lose customers) and to change food gradually (duh), which are completely unhelpful. Its like having a recipe for a famous food safe for all and suddenly adding peanuts and not telling people or getting any feedback. Now we have to find a new food, if we even can, that he won't be allergic to, and I will definitely be looking for a different company. What a huge disappointment.
