- The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment.
- But a good place to start is with the below guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily.
- Making the Switch to Pro Plan:
- Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dogs please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively.
- This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

When transitioning your dog to this new food, do so gradually over 7-10 days. Start by mixing a small amount of the new food with their old food, slowly increasing the ratio. Allergy Improvements!! (finally)
We finally found a food that helps our dog with his allergies. It's so nice not to have to keep switching things up on him. He had ear infections, leaky eyes, and scratchy skin, but since putting him on this food, his overall health has improved significantly. In fact, he doesn’t even eat grass anymore, which is common when dogs have upset stomachs. His coat is also softer, and we no longer need to give him an extra dose of omega fish oil on top of his food.
I know it's a separate product, but the same food in wet form is also to die for (according to my dog). He absolutely destroys it!

Didn’t help allergies
My dog likes it but it has not helped her allergies at all. Her skin/coat didn’t improve after a few months so I am giving up on it. She still has really terrible allergies and is constantly itchy. We’ve tried a lot of brands and even the probiotics by Purina Pro but no improvement.

Smells like dirt, must taste worse than dirt.
Digestive issues resolved due to dog won't eat so there is nothing to digest to cause issues. Smells like garden soil, no wonder dog won't eat. Very disappointed in Purina. Over priced, over hyped, poor product quality research in real world animals.

Larvae, bugs and worms. Oh my!
We’ve been feeding our dogs, a six year old chocolate lab and a one year old mixed breed. Our lab has known allergies to poultry and has an extensive history of skin problems and ear infections. We started feeding this due to a review I had read online. I’m giving it three stars because tonight I opened op the sealed container we keep it in to find numerous flying bugs, worms and some type of crusty looking casings.

Dog Allergy Solution
Great product. Highly recommend. Due to skin alergies, our Vet recommended we use a non-traditional food such as chicken or beef. Since using Purina Salmon and Rice, Sensitive Skin and Stomach; Skin/food alergy symptoms have disappeared. Thank you@

My Boxer Boy was very sick within a week
I was very slowly switiching my boxer to Purina Pro Plan Adult Sensitive Skin and Stomach Salmon and Rice formula from the Purina Pro Plan Performance 30/20 Salmon and Rice that he had been on for 2 years, and within a week he got really sick. He vomited and had bloody diarrhea leading to a trip to the ER. Almost $2000 later, the vet diagnosed him with pancreatitis. His bloodwork had gone from completely normal on May 2, 2025 to having 2 enzyme readings that were way above the normal range on May 24, 2025. Because his health deteriorated so quickly, I even had radiographs/x-rays done to ensure there was no blockage or foreign body. The only thing that changed in his life was the food. I went home with 6 medications and a very lethargic and ill dog. I put him on a bland diet immediately, and it took about a week for him to feel better. I have never had a dog respond to any dog food like this. I do not feed my dogs any table scraps, etc. as boxers have a huge tendency to gain weight. I have had several boxers over the years, but before this dog, I had never fed any Purina Pro product. He had done all right on the Pro Plan Performance, but the calories, protein, and fat percentages were too high, and my boxer started to gain weight. He has some skin sensitivities, so I thought the Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and stomach would be the right choice, especially since it came in the same flavor. Boy, was I wrong. I am now doing in-depth research to decide what food I should change him to, and in doing so, I have read several complaints from others about this food making their dogs sick. I am now very hesitant to use any Purina Pro Plan food again. This was a very scary experience, and because of what happened to my dog, I definitely do not recommend this food.

Not as good as it used to be.
This product used to be amazing for my dogs but after 2023 when they reformulated it seemed to not only not help with skin issues but exacerbate them. I assumed at first it was just external allergies and the food had nothing to do with it so I tried giving her this food again and within a day she broke out in hives.
