ORIJEN Six Fish Recipe Dry Dog Food Directions:
- Because your dog is unique and ORIJEN™ pet foods are packed with animal protein, feeding requirements will vary with breed, environment, age and activity.
- Orijen suggests using the feeding guide below as a starting point, and monitoring your dog’s weight and adjusting portions as needed.
- Feed your pet twice daily and always keep fresh, clean water available.
- SMALL & MEDIUM PUPPIES: 1 1/2-3 Months: Feed 2x the Adult amount.
- 3-6 Months: Feed 1 1/2x the Adult amount.
- 6- 11 Months: Feed 1 1/4x the Adult amount.
- GESTATION: Increase from 25-50% the Adult Amount
- LACTATION: Feed "free choice."
- When switching diets, transitioning slowly will give your pet’s digestive system time to adjust to the nutrient-levels in ORIJEN. Over a 10-14 day period, gradually mix in ORIJEN, increasing the amount each day so that by the end you are feeding 100% ORIJEN.

Unable to get my dog to eat it anymore
I bought a small bag my mix breed ate it and seemed to love it. Then when I bought two large bags he is not eating it after getting through half the bag. Ugh!!! Thought this would help his rash it did but now it’s not because I had to switch foods the rash is back.

Great food but not for all breeds
I’ve had Malamutes for the past 40+ years. For years, it was a challenge to feed them because of their primitive digestion that comes from being a primitive breed. Wheat, corn, rice, and domesticated meats like beef, chicken, and lamb are all no-gos for my dogs. Well, we discovered Orijen way back when it still came from Canada after I’d been doing a LOT of research on Malamute diets and digestion. If we were to stick to what the breed itself was historically accustomed to, that meant fish, high in fat, and lots of plant like pumpkin, berries, and apples (all great favorites for my dogs). So, I ordered the Six-Fish, transitioned them over, and noticed an immediate improval in their digestion (and poop). I’ve fed it ever since - we’re on the 5th and 6th Malamute fed on Six-Fish only.
I should note that Six Fish Traditional is not for all breeds, especially Golden Retrievers. Malamute digestion, being primitive, does best on high protein and high animal fat tempered with fruits and vegetables. Wheat, corn, or rice are just a no. Think throwing a dog a great big fish or slab of seal blubber and you’ve got Malamute diets. There are very few primitive breeds around. Most dogs are much more evolved, as is their digestion. This much protein and fat could certainly be too much for some breeds unless it’s offset by additional lower-protein, low-fat carbs. There are also lentils in traditional Six Fish which have caused problems in Goldens and a few other breeds. However, Orijen also makes an ancient grains version that, while it was not good for our Malamutes, would be perfect for non-primitive beans. There are no lentils, for one, plus there are grains like millet and others that are high-quality and provide the carbs that more modern breeds do best on.
If you want slightly lower protein and fat, Orijen has other formulas that will be wonderful for your dog that are based on game meats as well as beef and chicken. Overall, it’s an excellent food and well worth the expense.

Traded itches for soft stool, trying again
I’ve had three dogs eating the six-fish food between my current two and my shar pie in the past. The shar pie did wonderfully with six fish and only had fever flare ups when he would steal something with grain (whole loaf of bread incident) off the counter. My golden, on the other hand, has had two in-house poo accidents and a weeks worth of the runs. Interestingly enough, we thought the soft stool was from her puppy brother since he eats everything and anything. We did two weeks of homemade chicken and rice, noticed some constipation and then regular, solid movements. Went to reintroduce the six fish and not two days later the girl left us two yard poo pies, an emergency potty at 2am this morning, and a house poo pie at 630 am. I still feel highly about the brand, our puppy is doing well and the girl’s itches have cleared. We just traded one of her problems for another.

My dog loves Six Fish!!
My Australian Cattle Dog puppy chewed her paws something fierce on the food she came to us with (which wasn’t an Orijen product). I suspected she might be allergic to chicken, so we switched her to Orijen Six Fish. That immediately solved her paw problem, and five years later, she still loves her food. She also still has boundless energy and a beautiful coat. Tysm, Orijen!

Easy on sensitive digestive system of my old dog
Only thing my 12 year old dogo Argintino’ s stomach agrees with. In his youth he could eat whatever but now i don’t mess with anything else. The high protein helps keep his mass cell tumors under control and his muscle mass up.

Orijen fish formula
I am feeding the food to my 1 year golden retriver however with this food type he is shedding way too much and his coat has hone less and have some dark patches he is also jot eating it willingly

Not As Good As Other Version
Not as good as Orijen's Six Fish recipe with Amazing Grains, and disappointing they have this as some stores will carry this line instead of the amazing grains version.
