No fresh or whole foods
I understand there is a bias in the commercial pet industry toward Royal Canine and Hills - however it should be hard to understand the strong opinions of vets on this matter given the majority of them receive less than a semester on nutrition. In any case, the first ingredient is a filler, rice, how much they do not precise, but the order of listing tells you it represents most of the content. The next is fat. The third and forth are constituent of fish pellets: meal. This food contains NO FRESH OR WHOLE FOODS. Their analysis is also particularly vague which lends itself to more variation in the industrial factory where these pellets are made. If your dog is to die, let him die a dog...not some mutilated domesticated version of one fed on industrial fish pellets.

Farts produced by this food are horrific
This food my be good for my dogs heart, but the farts it produces makes everyone in the household sick. I'm on my third bag so it's not just the one lot number, it is the food itself that is at fault. It's awful. We have to switch to something that doesn't make family members ill.

Life saving
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My boy was diagnosed with DCM in July of 2018. He was only six and the diagnosis terrified me. His cardiologist suggested the Early Cardiac diet and I jumped on it. He loves it. His DCM is still mild and I attribute that to the diet.

Reversal of DCM with Royal Canin Early Cardiac
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own two working Labrador retrievers that were diagnosed with nutritionally-mediated DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy) because of having been fed an expensive (supposedly high quality) BEG diet their entire lives. Upon diagnosis, they were both transitioned to Royal Canin Early Cardiac vet diet and the changes in them have been nothing short of astonishing. While they both "appeared" to be healthy prior to being diagnosed, their coats are now thicker and more luxurious, stools are smaller and less frequent and their overall conditioning is even better. I am so thankful to say that one of my girls has seen a complete reversal of her DCM due solely to feeding RCEC. DCM cannot be reversed with meds, only a food change to a well-formulated, balanced diet can do that. My other girl is still battling this wretched disease, but we are hoping that she, too, will experience a reversal of her heart condition. I could not be more grateful to Royal Canin for the investment, care and experience they put into formulating and testing their diets. I only wish I had known this years ago so that we could have avoided this dreadful disease.
